Porridge by Su Lin


Method:
(1) Soak half bowl of rice in water and 6 red dates with gei zhi (wolfberries) in water overnight.
(2) The next day, boil 6 bowls of water in a pot. Dump in ikan bilis and the red dates & boil for 10 minutes.
(3) Filter out the ikan bilis and red dates while squeezing out the juice using a strainer.
(4) Put all the rice, gei zhi, chopped onions, chopped potatoes, carrots and tomatoes/pumpkin into it and bring to boil then slow fire. Remember to stir often so that it won't get burnt.
(5) Lastly add in vegetables which are chopped finely.
No need to add salt or any sauce.
